The village of Rosendal, at the mouth of Hardangerfjord, is like a slice of Norway in miniature. The possibilities are endless, whether you just want to stroll around the beautiful village, stop at a gallery – or take in the magnificent scenery. Some of the finest hiking areas in western Norway are nearby, with mountain trails suited to all levels of trekkers, from families with children to those seeking tougher challenges. Of course, there is a broad range of activities to choose from: kayaking on the fjord, canoeing on the lakes, glacier hiking, off-road cycling and Putball – or soccer-golf as it is also called! Not far from Rosendal center are beautiful sandy beaches.
Just a 1.5 kilometer walk from the village center is the Baroniet (Barony), with Scandinavia’s smallest castle, from 1665, surrounded by a beautiful rose garden with a pleasant garden cafe where you can have lunch if you’d like.
At the Folgefonn Center, you can learn about Folgefonna National Park, water’s journeys on earth, climate change, biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources.
The boat trip from Bergen through beautiful, untamed landscapes is an experience in itself. The boat also stops at Flesland quay and at Os on the way to and from Rosendal.
Our comfortable, modern boats are large and spacious, with plenty of space both outside and inside. The kiosk on board offers snacks and cold/hot drinks. See our menu here.
